Injectable Treatments
Injectable Fillers
Facial lines have long been viewed as a sign of facial aging, but volume restoration has changed the way we treat the face to look younger. For decades a skin excising facelift was the standard procedure for making someone look younger, but without volumization this led to tightly pulled faces that had less lines and did look ‘different’, but not necessarily more beautiful.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy injections target small varicose veins (often referred to as spider veins), most often found on the legs. The treatment works by injecting the veins with a solution that will irritate the vein and cause inflammation, ultimately resulting in the vein collapsing and disappearing.
Neurotoxins
Neuromodulators work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles, so injected muscles don’t contract as harshly. When injected into specific muscles, you can expect lighter expressions with less harsh wrinkling, even lifting of the brow and a more pleasant relaxed facial expression.
Fat transfer & Nanofat
Microfat fat transfer is truely transformative. The transferred adipocytes become integrated, which minimizes the requirement for repeat injections typically seen in manufactured fillers. Plus the fat is from your own body and gives brings with it fat-derived growth factors which really transform the face.
Nanofat injection is a procedure where Dr. Swann processes your own fat which from areas where there is a maximum concentration of adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) are injected into the skin for rejuvenation. In nanofat injections, the growth factors are extracted from the adipocytes after focal liposuction and injected for dark circles under the eyes, fine periorbital contours and wrinkles around the mouth, upper chest and back of hands.
FAQ's
What's the difference between neurotoxins and dermal fillers?
Neurotoxins and dermal fillers work differently to address signs of aging. Neurotoxins like Botox, Jeuveau, and Daxxify temporarily relax muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles like frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, add volume to areas that have lost fullness over time, smoothing static wrinkles and restoring facial contours in areas like the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds.
How long do injectable results last?
Neurotoxin results typically last 3-5 months. Juvederm Voluma and Radiesse can last 2-5 years, depending on the product type, treatment area, and individual patient. Your provider will discuss the expected longevity based on your specific treatment plan.
When will I see results from my injectable treatment?
Dermal fillers provide immediate visible improvement. With fillers, you can leave the office looking years younger than when you came in, and results are instantly obvious. Neurotoxin results take a bit longer to appear. Your provider will discuss the specific timeline for your treatment during your consultation.
Are injectable treatments painful?
Injectable treatments are nearly painless. We use very fine needles, and most people report only minimal discomfort during injections. Your provider will ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
What are the most common side effects of injectables?
Common side effects are temporary and mild, including redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at injection sites. These typically resolve within a few days. Serious complications are rare when treatments are performed by qualified, experienced providers like our board-certified dermatologist and trained injectors.
Can I combine neurotoxins and fillers in the same visit?
Yes, neurotoxins and dermal fillers are often combined during the same appointment for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Neurotoxins maximize and extend the results achieved through injectable fillers. This combination approach addresses both dynamic wrinkles and volume loss for optimal results. Our team will create a customized treatment plan based on your aesthetic goals.
How should I prepare for my injectable appointment?
Your provider will give you specific preparation instructions before your appointment. Come with clean skin, free of makeup, and be prepared to discuss your medical history and aesthetic goals during your consultation.
What is the recovery time after injectable treatments?
Injectable treatments require minimal downtime. Most patients return to normal activities immediately. Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions to ensure the best possible results.
Am I a good candidate for injectable treatments?
Ideal candidates are adults looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, restore facial volume, or prevent signs of aging. You should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations. A consultation with one of our trained injectors will determine if injectables are right for you.
Will injectables make my face look frozen or unnatural?
When properly administered by experienced injectors, neurotoxins help you look younger and more relaxed — not frozen. When properly placed, they relax the muscles that cause wrinkles but do not limit your range of normal facial expressions. At Swann Dermatology, we focus on natural-looking rejuvenation that enhances your appearance.
What is a Liquid Facelift?
The Liquid Facelift is a non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation that offers many benefits of a traditional facelift without a single incision. Liquid Facelifts restore lost volume, diminish lines and wrinkles, redefine the jawline and cheekbones, and lift sagging areas. Our team will customize the procedure to suit your particular needs and target specific areas of concern.
